Queen and her mother in law got tired of moving
from one psychiatric hospital to the other. They
were also tired of trying out different traditional
solution centers and herbalist. The search for a
cure for Kelvin had eaten up the remaining money
his mother had left and feeding became a
problem for Queen who was almost more than due
for delivery. She had no option than to open up to
Mercy who had sent her some money and had
advised that they take Kelvin to a Bible believing
Church. Mercy had flown from Port Harcourt and
together they had taken Kelvin to the Church she
attended when she was living in Abuja. After
seven days of prayers and fasting, the soft
spoken Bible carrying man of God informed them
that there was nothing that could be done since
Kelvin was not willing to confess.
Pastor: “I hear a voice telling me that Kelvin needs
to confess if he must regain his sanity. Until he
confesses and asks God for forgiveness, I am
afraid his healing will still be far away” he
repeated the umpteenth time that day.
Queen: “pastor, what are you talking about? You
said we should fast and pray for seven days, we
have done that. Why is he still mad? Me I am
already tired of all these things o, if not that I am
pregnant, I would have gone away o. I know
where my mates are enjoying themselves right
now” she signed.
Pastor: “yes my daughter, remember that some of
your mates are in the mortuary, awaiting burial.
Some are in the grave rotting away, some are in
the hospitals with one chronic ailment or the
other while others, the worst category of all are in
hell. This is your cross; you must carry it till the
end”
Queen: “cross oshi wo ni yen? Am I Jesus Christ
that I will carry my cross? Come and force me to
carry my cross now” she remarked sarcastically.
Pastor: “The Lord tells us that if anyone wants to
be His follower, he or she must take up his or her
cross and follow Him. Do you believe in God? Are
you a born again Christian?”
Queen: “wo, leave me alone jare. Which yeye
believe in God? Where was God when the man I
schemed to marry because I thought he was rich
lost all his wealth? Where is God that He will allow
me be in a condition where to feed is a problem? I
have been carrying this pregnancy for the past
two years and the doctors told me that they
cannot operate me else I will lose my life, what
kind of God allows that? If not for Mercy, we
wouldn’t have even seen what to eat today. Don’t
tell me about any God again”
Pastor: “kneel down and let me pray for you. The
revelation I am seeing about the foetus in you
womb is not pleasant at all. The enemy will not
exchange the child in your womb for another
thing, if only you will believe in God”
Kelvin: “they are coming for me, somebody help
me” he screamed suddenly.
Pastor: “my brother, confess your sins and be free
again”
Kelvin nodded and began to talk.
Kelvin: “when I was 17 years old, I ran away from
home and followed my friend who helped me
secure Visa to India, my friend promised to get me
a good job as soon as we got there. When we got
there, he took me to a shaman who did some
favour charms for me and gave me connection in
exchange for my celibacy. He took away my
erection and told me that I must remain single
because there was no way the charm would be
potent if I touch any woman. Queen had to drug
me that day to turn me on, if I was in my right
senses, I wouldn’t have been able to get erection.
He told me that the day I make love to any
woman or get married is the day I will begin to
lose all my wealth, properties and connections
mysteriously. After I discovered what happened
that morning when I woke up, I ran back to India
but the shaman told me there was nothing he
could do about it unless I offer my mother as a
sacrifice to appease the gods. I refused because I
know how hard my mother struggled to raise me.
My refusal made him to cause me untold poverty
and hardship. After a while, I ran mad in India
and had to be deported back. The shaman
promised that I would die as soon as I make this
confession and that my unborn child will be born
with serious deformity and that Queen and my
mother will live to suffer all the days of their lives.
Can God forgive me and have mercy on my soul
when I eventually die?”
Pastor: “the devil is a liar; you will not die young
man. The shaman did not know when God formed
you in your mother’s womb and so he has no
right to determine when you will die. But to allow
God help you, you need to acknowledge him as
your Lord and savior. Do you believe in Him? Are
you ready to give your life to Him and get
baptized?”
Kelvin: “Yes, yes, I believe. I accept Jesus as my
Lord and personal Saviour from this day
henceforth”
Pastor: “is this coming from your heart or are you
just saying it because you are afraid of dying?”
Kelvin: “I have always wanted to come to God but
I was afraid that he would not accept me because
of my many sins”
The pastor prayed for him alongside other prayer
warriors.
Queen on seeing that giving her life to God was
the solution to her problem also repented and
surrendered all to God and was delivered of her
baby there and then in the Church.
All attempts to get Asha to turn away from her
prostituting ways proved abortive. Few months
after Mercy’s last attempt to make her turn to the
Lord, Asha went to abort a four months old
pregnancy and got her womb damaged in the
process. She was also having anal complications
from the anal sex that she had been indulging in.
After spending all the money she made from men
on treatments, her new friends whom she
prostituted with had to take her back to her
parents’ house where she stays indoor with the
smell of feaces and urine around her because her
anus can no longer hold waste product and
neither she nor her parents could afford the

Queen and her husband relocated to Port Harcourt
after he regained his sanity. Mercy and her
husband had to rent a one room apartment for
them and feed them and their baby for month and
out of pity for them, Mercy’s husband, Peter
employed Kelvin as one of the sales agents in his
gas plant so that he could earn some money for
himself and his family. Queen seeing that getting
a white collar job was not easy enrolled in
Mercy’s fashion school so that she could learn
how to sew and become self reliant.

Note: It pays to wait upon the Lord. Queen had
no patience, she despised the days of little
beginnings because she thought that Peter would
remain the way he was forever, forgetting that
change is the only constant thing in nature.
Kelvin on the other hand was deceived by the
lures of materialism, forgetting that if the Devil
gives you a shoe, he will take one of your legs as
payment.
Asha continued in her immoral ways despite all
warnings forgetting that whatsoever we sow, we
shall reap.
The three people ended up empty and miserable
with nothing to show for all their years of so
called smartness and slaying.
I say to you today, for as many of you that are
going through one challenge or the other and are
holding on to God and waiting for Him rather
than devising other worldly means to help
yourself, God will not disappoint you. It doesn’t
matter if you are a Christian or a Muslim, God will
do for you what people think is impossible. Do
not be discouraged because people are probably
laughing at you or talking behind you because of
your job or handwork. In due time, God will cause
you to eat of the fruit of your labour and those
people who laughed at you will come to you to
seek for jobs. Do not envy your friends, family
members, younger ones or school mates who are
doing better than you. Remember it is not how
fast but how well. When God has not spoken,
every other speaker is a noise maker. He will uplift
you and cause you greatness for the sake of the
glory of His name. Hold on, cry no more for joy cometh in the morning.

Queen tried to get in touch with Kelvin all to no
avail. His numbers were switched off and he
would not reply his messages on all his social
media accounts. Two months had already passed
since she met him and since then she had missed
her monthly period. She was still engrossed in
deep thoughts when Asha who had been in the
bathroom came out and began to get dressed.
Asha: “what happened? Why are you looking this
dull? I don’t understand you these days again o”
she rightly observed.
Queen: “I am just confused” she said turning to
face her friend.
Asha: “What for? Anyway, I ran into an old
university friend of ours yesterday and we got
talking. She told me that she attended Mercy’s
wedding and that it was glamorous. I even heard
that Mercy and her husband travelled abroad last
month courtesy of their state governor who
rewarded her for returning 10 million naira that
was mistakenly paid into her account” she said
cleaning her face with cotton bud and facial
cleanser.
Queen: “Lucky them” she said indicating lack of
interest.
Asha: “can you imagine that Mercy and her
husband now travel abroad and we are still here
with nobody asking for our hand in marriage.
What a world”
Queen: “Asha, can you just stop talking about
Mercy and her husband? Stop tormenting me for
God’s sake” she shouted.
Asha: “what was the outburst for? Are you okay
girlfriend?”
Queen: “I think I am pregnant o” she said quietly.
Asha: “pregnant? How? Who is responsible?” she
said going to sit beside her friend.
Queen: “stop asking silly questions. You know
that Kenny was the last man I had unprotected
sex with”
Asha: “wow! Congratulations, dear” she hugged
her affectionately.
Queen: “what is wrong with this one?
Congratulations for what?”
Asha: “I thought you have always wanted to take
in for Kelvin? This calls for a celebration, let’s go
out and pump Champagn”
Queen: “you still don’t get it? Is this not the same
Kelvin that threw you and I out of the house after
he discovered that we made love? Have you
forgotten that incidence so soon?”
Asha: “that is true o. But I am sure that he would
be happy to hear that you are carrying his child.
Just inform him about it”
Queen: “that is the problem. I have tried to reach
him all to no avail. I called him but his numbers
has been switched off. I sent him messages on
WhatsApp, Skype and even Facebook but he will
not reply” she said sadly.
Asha: “then go to his house” she suggested.
Queen: “you want me to go to his house after the
embarrassment that he gave me that day? I have
made up my mind to go to that house only as a
wife. That is the only way I can hold my head
high among his domestic staff who saw how I
was disgraced that day”
Asha: “well, you have to drop your pride and ego
and go there. As least for the sake of your unborn
child” she pleaded with her.
Queen: “okay, will you go with me? I would your
moral support”
Asha moved away from her as if she was some
plague.
“I cannot go back to that house again o. That
Kelvin can kill somebody with his slap. It took me
more than three weeks to hear with my ear after
he slapped me. Abeg count me out”
Queen: “I am done for it”
Asha: “see, babe. Stop brooding as if pregnancy
is the end of the world. You and I have been
pregnant several times before and we took care of
it. Let us go out and relax, if Kelvin doesn’t come
around, we shall take care of the pregnancy
before it becomes noticeable”
Queen: “where exactly are we going? Asha so you
are not tired of going out and sleeping with men
for money?”
Asha: “When there is no job for us, what do you
expect me to do? It is no longer news that I am a
confirmed prostitute. Let’s go out so that I will
hook you up jare” she said.
Queen declined and after some persuasions
especially considering the fact that she needed
money to feed and for upkeep, she went out.
There she met and slept with a man who
promised to renew her rent which had expired.
She called him the next day to remind him but a
woman picked up the phone and after giving her
the insult of her life, she threatened to kill her if
she ever called the number again.

3 months after Queen got in touch with Kelvin’s
mother to inform her of the pregnancy, the woman
went with her people and paid Queen’s bride price
in an elaborate traditional marriage ceremony
even though Kelvin was nowhere to be found. The
woman had informed Queen’s people that her son
was on a course in the USA and that he had
mandated her to do the needful on his behalf and
take his wife home since she was already carrying
their child.
Although Queen’s parents had their reservation
about the arrangement, they had no option but to
approve when their daughter threatened to kill
herself if they prevented her traditional wedding.
The next day, Queen and Kelvin’s mother returned
home to his house. This time around, Queen
noticed a fore brooding in the house with
everywhere looking unkept and quiet.
Queen: “ah-ah, where are all these domestic
staff? So because my husband has been outside
the country for months, they will not do their jobs
again abi? They have me to contend with” she
said as soon as she stepped into Kelvin’s
mansion with his mother.
Mama Kelvin: “you need to calm down and allow
me discuss with you” she said ignoring Queen’s
rants.
Queen sat down immediately when she saw how
serious the woman had sounded.
Mama Kelvin: “you will notice that there was no
security man when we got here, I had to come
down from the car and open the gate myself” she
started to say until Queen interrupted.
Queen: “yes, don’t mind those useless security
people. Only God knows where they went to
abandoning their duty post. I will deal with them
when they return. If they think they can behave
anyhow because my husband is outside the
country, then they are in for surprises”
Mama Kelvin: “will you allow me talk?”
Queen: “okay, ma” she said cursing the old
woman in her heart.
Mama Kelvin: “there is no security man and there
are no domestic staff anymore. In fact, the story
that my son is outside the country for a course is
false. I had to say that so that your people will
accept your bride price and give us your hand in
marriage”
Queen: “What! Excuse me ma but I do not
understand you. The last time I was here, this
house was overflowing with servants and security
personnel. What happened to all of them? And
what do you mean by Kelvin is not on a course in
America? Where is he? Where is my husband?
Where is the father of my child” she asked her
heartbeat accelerating.
Mama Kelvin: “Hmmn…it is a long story”

Queen: “mama, please talk to me, I need to know
everything that is happening” she said suddenly
sweating.
Mama Kelvin: “the truth is that we have not seen
nor heard from Kelvin for months now but I know
that he is fine, my heart tells me so. If something
terrible had happened to him, I would have felt it
in my spirit”
Queen: “I don’t understand you. If this is true,
why did you ask me to keep the pregnancy when I
told you about it some months ago? Why did you
come and marry me for a son whose whereabouts
you do not even know?”
Mama Kelvin: “because the child you are carrying
is my grandchild and I will not allow you abort
him or her just like that. My son left without
telling me anything. I came here and the domestic
staff told me that he travelled the next day after
you had a quarrel with him. He left without
leaving any money behind. I had to pay the
salaries of the domestic staff and other bills with
my money. When I couldn’t pay after two months,
they all resigned to go in search of greener
pastures. My business which has been my source
of livelihood is suffering, the past few months
have been the toughest months of my life, I
cannot explain how I have lost all that I have,
and it is mysterious. In fact, I used the last
money I have in my account to do your traditional
wedding; I didn’t want to give you or your people
the impression that anything had gone wrong.
Few weeks ago, a bank came here and took away
all my son’s cars because he used his exotic cars
as collateral to get loan for a business that I am
sure crashed. Even this house we live in, we have
been issued a letter that it will be confiscated in a
few months time if he doesn’t pay up the loan he
got from another bank”
Queen: “what!” she screamed in disbelief.
Mama Kelvin: “you are a part of this family now
and there is no need hiding anything from you. All
the cars my people and I drove to your village for
your traditional wedding were borrowed. Even this
one that I drove her was borrowed; I have to
return it back in a few hour’s time”
Queen: “no, this is not happening to me. No I
must ne dreaming” she said slapping herself.
Mama Kelvin: “it is a trying time for all of us but
then you have calm down and to be strong” she
consoled her bewildered daughter in law.
Queen: “don’t tell me to calm down”, she said
suddenly losing her cool.” How can you be this
wicked to another person’s child? How dare you
deceive me into marriage with your son?” she
asked anger building up in her throat.
Mama Kelvin: “because you were already
pregnant. I know how you young women of
nowadays behave. If I had not begged you to
keep the pregnancy, the next thing I would hear is
that you have aborted it” she defended herself.
Queen: “don’t give me that crap, woman. You
were the one who told me to get pregnant for your
son. As a matter of fact, you begged me to get
pregnant for him. This was never my idea. You
said you will get your son to marry me once I take
in for him”
Mama Kelvin: “haven’t I done that? Have you not
done your traditional marriage” she asked trying
to control her anger.
Queen: “this was not the life I was promised. The
man I got pregnant for is very rich not this Kelvin
that has disappeared into thin air with all his
properties getting confiscated” she said.
Mama Kelvin: “all I know is that I have done my
part by marrying you as promised. You have to
stay in this house and manage till your husband
returns. My prayer is that he returns before the
bank comes back here. This N5, 000, that is all I
can afford for now. Use it to feed until I return. I
guess we have to sell off the electronics to raise
money for your antenatal and other expenses.
PHCN has disconnected the electricity here
because we have been owing for months so
electronics have no use here”
Queen: “Oh my God. N5, 000 mama. What do I do

The woman excused herself and left the house
which reminded her so much of her son and how
things have fallen apart in few months.
Queen picked her phone and sent Asha a message
which read.
“Asha, I don enter one chance” she sent the
message and began to weep aloud, not minding
that her voice was echoing in the room.

Queen’s pregnancy continued to grow with her
looking like a shadow of herself. She barely had
enough to eat and drink and the strain from the
pregnancy was already telling on her. She had
gone to live with Asha in their house but the
agency that managed the property had kicked
them out for failure to pay their fees. Queen
couldn’t go back to her parents’ house for shame
and Asha, used to her extravagant lifestyle took
to prostituting with different men every night. She
lived in a cheap hotel in town and walked the
streets of Abuja half naked and waiting for men to
pick her. Seeing that Queen was nothing but a
burden to her, she had abandoned her and told
her never to call her for anything again. Queen felt
alone and deserted. Even her mother in law could

Queen was in the house thinking of how she had
fallen from grace to grass when she heard
someone banging on the main gate. She was
surprised, because she had no friends or relations
who visited her. The only person that would visit
her was her mother in law and the woman never
banged on the door that violently. Suddenly, she
thought of the bank that had said they will come
and confiscate the property if Kelvin didn’t pay up
the loan he took from them and her heart flew to
her mouth. She got up and went to the door and
almost screamed when she saw an unkempt man
with beards and tattered clothes standing before
her.
Queen: “yes, how can I help you” she asked since
she could not recognize him.
“It is me, Kelvin” he said.
As soon as Queen heard his voice, her head
began to spin and she had to hold on to the gate
for support. Kelvin entered the compound and
walked past her into the room without saying a
word.
Queen: “my God what happened to you, Kelvin?
Why are you looking this unkept, are you sick”
she asked all at once.
Kelvin: “don’t you dare come close to me, you
daughter of Eve. How dare you talk to me when
you were the one who got me into this mess? I
hate you and I will forever hate you” he cursed.
Queen: “look at me, Kelvin. I am carrying your
child and I have suffered so much ever since you
went away” she said but Kelvin got up and
grabbed her by the neck and began to choke her.
“cursed be you and the cursed thing you have in
your womb. I was enjoying my life until you came
and ruined everything. I hate you so much” he
barked. She tried to ease out of his hold as she
was struggling for air but he held on to her tightly.
She began to scream when she felt she was
running out of air for his tight grip was choking
her wind pipe. Just then, his mother who was
coming to check on her entered the room.
Mama Kelvin: “who is this mad man that wants to
kill the mother of my unborn grandchild?” she
said and rushed at him. She stopped in her track
when Kelvin released Queen and turned around.
“my..my son?” she asked, unable to believe her
eyes.
Kelvin: “yes, it is me mum. Are you happy with the
way you have made me now? I was on my own
and you came around asking that I get married. I
tried to explain to you that marriage is not for me
but you wouldn’t listen, now see where it has
landed me” he said tears streaming down his
eyes.
Mama Kelvin: “I don’t understand what you mean
by I am the cause of all that has happened to
you. What is wrong with a woman advising her
son to get married and have children? Is it not
someone that gave birth to you?”
She was still speaking when Kelvin began to
display elements of madness. He tore his shirt
and began to tear at his beard. Then he removed
his trousers and was about to remove his boxers
when his mother held his tight he began to laugh
hysterically and soon he was running round the
sitting room with mother and wife trying to control
him to no avail. His mother went close to him and
when she tried to touch him, he dodged her and
ran out of the house in a frantic lunatic display.

Queen got down to business and undressed his
fully erected manhood. The effect of the drowsy
drug and Viagra that they had dissolved in his

her desires and strength could permit. He was
underneath her moaning and groaning like a
zombie.
When he woke up again, he tried to get up but
she pushed him back.
Queen: “we are about to go for round two” she
said sipping her drink.
Kelvin: “no, don’t do this. Please don’t do this,

name of whatever you hold dear in your life” he
pleaded, alarm written all over his wobbly drunk
face.
Queen: “I am sorry we have to make love darling.
You know why? Because I already promised your
mother that I will take in for you as soon as
possible” she kissed him on the forehead and
forced him to drink from his Viagra induced wine.
When he swallowed the gulp she had forced into
his throat, he felt blood rushing into his manhood
and he felt himself charged like he had never been
in years. He felt himself floating and he lost
control of his promise and principle.
He grabbed her and turned her aside like one
possessed by a demon. She giggled. Finally he
was ready to give her what she had always

Kelvin: “No!” he screamed, not getting up from the

change in his countenance.
Kelvin: “I never wanted it. I have told you several
times that it is impossible for us to make love. I
can’t remember anything that happened last
night. This has always been your wish; you

did I even allow you into my house the first
place?” he asked rhetorically.
Queen: “why are you making a mountain out of a
mole? Is this the first time two unmarried people

are shouting like this” she said getting up.
Kelvin: “you call sex ordinary? Goodness, how did
I let my guards down and fall into this mess? Get
out of my house” he screamed.

twisted her hand, sending her reeling in pain.
Kelvin: “if you do not leave my house this minute,
I will do something that the both of us will regret,

Kelvin: “get out” he barked and opened the door
and pushed her out, not minding the fact that she

Kelvin went back into the room, picked her things
and threw it back at her.
Kelvin: “If I come downstairs and see you
anywhere close to this street, I will kill you, it’s a
promise” he threatened.
Just then Asha who had been awakened by the
commotion in the house came out rubbing her
face.
Asha: “What is going on here? Queen, what
happened?” she asked her friend who was
hurriedly wearing her clothes.
Kelvin: “Oh, you are still here? Will you two cheap

sounding this harsh this morning, now. Whatever
issues it is you have with my friend can be settled

Asha didn’t see the next thing that was coming.
All she felt was a hard slap across her face that
sent her crashing into Queen who was beside her.
Kelvin: “who is your uncle? I know you are her
alibi, that is why she sent you to plead with me to
eat You don’t want to leave right? Okay, just wait
for me” he said and stormed back into the room.
The two girls seeing how serious the situation
was picked their things and hurried out of the
house.
The domestic staff who were pretending to be
busy at their job looked on and shrugged their
shoulders at the scene they had just witnessed.

Queen did just like her friend suggested. The two
girls went to Kelvin’s house prior to his arrival and
prepared his favorite meal. As soon as Kelvin
entered his sitting room, he was surprised to
perceive the aroma of food coming in from the
kitchen.
Kelvin: “what is the Cook cooking? I cannot
remember telling her to cook anything for me. In
fact, she doesn’t even know that I would arrive
today. Apart from you, no other domestic staff
knows that I will be arriving today. I like to take
them unawares” He said to the driver who was
holding his box beside him.
Driver: “Oga, no be Mama cook dey kitchen o”
Kelvin: “what do you mean by that? Is my mother
around?”
Driver: “No, sir. Na madam and her friend dey
cook “ He said.
Kelvin: “Who is madam?” He asked at a loss on
what he meant.
Driver: “Your fiancee, sir” He said looking far
away.
“and who is that?” He asked confused.
Driver: “Aunty Queen”
Kelvin: “what! That parasite is still here? “ He
asked rhetorically and stormed into the kitchen.
“hello, darling” Queen said and hugged him as
soon as he got in.
Kelvin: “I…what are you doing… “
Queen: “Oh don’t say anything. I am sure you are
tired from the long flight. Anyway, this is my best
friend, she came around to help with the
preparation for your arrival” She said quickly.
Kelvin: “My arrival? What is so special about
that? I cannot remember asking for any welcome
party” He said ignoring Asha’s outstretched hand.
Asha: “I see that the two lovers need some time
alone. Queen, I will be in the guest room if you
need my help” She said shaking her bum and
making noise with her chewing gum.
Kelvin: “what is this? What’s all these talk about
you being my fiancee? Listen, when you are done
with all these, you and your friend should leave
my house. I can make do with some privacy” He
said and stormed out of the kitchen.
Queen entered the guest room in tears. Asha sat
up as if she has been sitting on a pin.
Asha: “Babe, wetin happen?”
Queen: “get dressed and pick your things, we are
leaving”
Asha: “why this soon? We are yet to accomplish
mission” She said.
Queen: “Look, I cannot take this anymore. I am
tired of the embarrassment”
Asha: “Calm down and tell me exactly what the
problem is”
Queen: “There is nothing to talk about here. Who
does Kelvin think that he is by embarrassing me
like that? Is it because I love him? Is it a crime to
desire to marry a rich man? What is it seff? Even
lepers get married how much more me? Get up
let’s leave this stupid house”
Asha got up and held Queen on the shoulder.
“I will tell you the truth, Queen. You need to be
patient. Any woman who wants to get married
needs to be patient. We will not leave this house
without accomplishing our mission. Remember
that when the going gets tough, only the tough
gets going”
Queen: “He said he won’t eat my food, how do we
get him to drink the wine then?”
Asha: “Don’t worry, just leave that to me. Which
way leads to his bedroom?”
Queen pointed the door and Asha excused herself
to go and talk with him.

Kelvin was surprised to see Asha enter his room
and kneel before him.
Kelvin: “What is all this harassment in my house
for God’s sake? Are you here to start your own
seduction too?”
Asha: “ejor uncle, don’t be angry. I am not here to
seduce you or anything like that. I can never
seduce a man. I am here to plead with you to
come downstairs so that we will eat together. My
friend expended a lot of time and energy to cook
for you and right now she is feeling really
downcast because you don’t seem to appreciate
her effort. Please just wine and dine with us and
we will leave as soon as we are done. Please, sir”
she said shedding crocodile tears.
Kelvin: “hell no, I will not partake of any feast.
The last time I fell for her tricks of eating as a
family, she became very close to my mother and
got the licence she needed to visit me at will. So,
thank you. You may go with the food and eat it in
your house for all I care” he said not moving an
inch from the bed.
Asha: “Uncle please, now. The last time was
Queen but this time around, I am the one
pleading with you and I promise to keep to my
words that we will leave as soon as you are done.
Don’t give your domestic staff the opportunity to
laugh at my friend, that could make a girl commit
suicide” she was staring him imploringly and he
shifted uneasily on the bed.
After more pleas, Kelvin gave in.
“fine, I will come downstairs and eat. Don’t block
my ears with pleas, I am tired of hearing that” he
said getting up.
Asha: “thank you, sir” she said lusting after his
six packs and broad chest.

The two girls and Kelvin had so much fun eating
and drinking that Kelvin wondered why he had
not realized how beautiful Queen was all these
days.
The two girls made sure they gave him more than
enough of the drugged wine without them
drinking it because they told him they had
stopped taking alcoholic drinks for health
reasons, and he innocently drank, grinning from
ear to ear like a sheep being led to its slaughter.
When they were sure that he was dead drunk, they
got up to leave.
Asha: “uncle, we are leaving your house now o,
remember I promised you that we will leave as
soon as we have had our fill, I want to fulfill that
promise now”
Kelvin: “you want to go back to your house by
this time of the night? When I have more than
enough guest room in my house? No, you are
going nowhere. Queen here will sleep in my room
as she had always done and you will have the
guest room all to yourself”
Asha: “but uncle, I thought you said…”
“Shhh…my decision is final, this is my house”
He got up and held Queen on the waist for
balance. He tried to take a step forward but he
staggered and fell down, he got up again and
this time around Queen held him and helped him
walk upstairs with Asha following them. When
they got to the door of his bedroom, Asha wanted
to follow them in but Queen stopped her.
Queen: “What is it now?” she asked barricading
the door.
Asha: “I want to go in with you people”
Queen: “Ah, kilode? Are we going to have
threesome ni? Didn’t you hear when he said that
you will sleep in the guestroom? Biko move away
jor” she pushed her and bolted the door.
“Today na today for me and you, Kelvin. When
you were busy drinking and making merry, you
did not know that I had plans for you. Oma shey
o, a hen flocks with the hyena, she is happy not
knowing that her death has come. Ah, today I will
use bedmatics to finish you” she said and began
to undress.

Queen on realizing that her actions had given her
away quickly composed herself.
Mercy: “Queen, are you okay? What is the
problem?” she asked.
Queen: “I am fine. I am just surprised that you
have the guts to bring Peter into my house after I
warned you not to bring him here”
Peter who had been quiet since they got into the
house decided to weigh in.
Peter: “Queen, I am very sorry for disturbing you.
In fact, we wouldn’t have been here but for the
fact that we thought it would not be nice of us to
get married without informing you girls
considering how you helped Mercy during your
undergraduate days. Also, I came to apologize to
you for even asking you out in the first place
when obviously we are not of the same class. But
then, thank you for the mockery and rejection,
which was what I needed to make me strive for
greater heights. The truth is that when people
mock us, we should be wise enough to build
ourselves into something better. You threw stones
at me but I didn’t see those stones as an insult. I
saw them as stepping stones to the next level.
Thank you” he said quietly.
Asha: “so this is the person you want to marry? A
secondary school leaver with some crude way of
reasoning? You are a second class upper
graduate, an intelligent and beautiful one for that
matter. Can’t you get something better than this…
this thing” she said sizing up Peter from head to
toe.
Mercy: “What is certificate and material
possessions when love is involved? How many
graduates have actually acquired what my
husband has acquired in such a short time and
legitimately at that? Currently he is a student of
the National Open University where he is studying
Law which has been his dream course but for
financial impediment. The university as you know
affords workers the opportunity to work while
studying for a degree and that is exactly what he
is doing. Right now he has two gas plants where
he sells gas and Kerosene as a wholesaler and
retailer. We have four buses which bring in money
to us every day. He has bought a plot of land in a
developmental area a bit far away from Port
Harcourt, it may be a village now but in the
future, the area will develop and we will build our
own house there. My husband has investments
and shares in the oil and gas sector in Port
Harcourt. With his help I have been able to open a
tailoring store where I have people working for me
and I go there too after work. Yes, this may mean
nothing to you girls because I know that you have
seen and touched plenty money. But it means a
lot to me. You know why? Because God brought
my fiancé and I out of nothing to where we are
today. What this simply means is that God is not
done with us yet and we trust him to take us to
greater heights. He is a good man with a good
heart and so I have no regrets even if he is an
illiterate which he is obviously not”
Queen: “have you finished talking? You should be
ashamed of yourself, Mercy. Sometimes, I wonder
how we even managed to come to this world as
cousins. Imagine your husband buying a land in
one village and you are here bragging about that
when his mates have houses in big cities all over
the world. What is investment in oil and gas and
having a gas plant? Is that one an achievement?
I have dated men who own oil blocks and fuel
stations. Men who have such high investment in
the oil and gas sector that if they withdraw their
investments, the sector will collapse. Men of
timber and caliber who control NNPC, so what is
this one saying?”
Mercy: “Very true dear cousin. You have dated
such men but those men are married and they
have their wives and children who are their
priorities, they can never marry you. You see, your
own is your own and this man here is mine. I will
rather have one poor man to call mine than
having 100 who are already married”
Queen’s anger rose to her throat and she felt like
slapping Mercy hard across the face.
“if only Mercy had tried to speak to me in such a
manner when she was living with me, I would
have given her the beating of her life ” she
thought.
Queen: “Mercy, leave my house” she said
suddenly.
Mercy: “What!” she asked with disbelief.
Queen: “I said leave my house and when you are
leaving, don’t forget to carry your secondary
school graduate of a husband along. Rubbish!”
she said and pushed them out.

Asha: “hey, see Mercy of yesterday o. Opening her
gutter of a mouth to talk to us in that manner
simply because she is getting married. This is
unbelievable!” she spewed after Mercy and her
fiance had driven off.
Queen: “Mercy o, a girl I accommodated and fed
is getting married before me, how palatable is
that?” she asked rhetorically.
Asha: “are you angry that she spoke to you the
way she did or that she is getting married?”
Queen: “I am angry that she is getting married
before me. Do you know what that means in my
extended family? Once she gets married, they will
begin to respect her more. How can that thing
who is not even close to me in terms of beauty
and physique get married before me?”
Asha: “woo, forget marriage jor, who marriage
epp?” she smirked.
Queen: “I want to get married o, I want to bear a
man’s name. Where I come from, no matter how
rich and educated you are, if you are not a
married as a woman, nobody will respect you. If I
had known that tables would turn like this, I
would have accepted Peter’s proposal” she said
sadly.
Asha: “My sister, I dey reason that thing too o.
Did you see their car? Imagine us hopping from
one cab to another simply because we cannot
afford to fuel our car and some people are even
busy buying cars. And shebi you said Peter is
ugly? The guy was looking very handsome today
o. I don’t even mind having his inside me”
Queen: “don’t be silly jare. Don’t you know that
money make people fine. The guy is obviously
rich now. Mercy cannot get married before me
now, mbanu”
Asha: “then get Kelvin to marry you since he is a
very rich man. That would prove to Mercy that her
husband’s so called money is nothing compared
to what your husband has”
Queen: “how do I do that? If only I can get him to
make love to me, I know he would fall in love with
my honey pot” she bragged.
Asha: “then get him to make love to you” she said
defiantly.
“how do I do that? Weren’t you here when I said I
have tried all tricks to no avail?”
Asha: “this is beyond tricks and seductions. Drug
him and get him to sleep with you. This is how we
will do it. You said he will be returning to the
country next tomorrow right?”
Queen nodded in agreement.
Asha: “Fine. Me and you will go to his house, then
you will cook his favourite meal and then later we
will drink a bottle of wine to celebrate his safe
return, of course his wine will be drugged. Once he
begins to snore, take him in and give him the
fucking of his life”
Queen: “but how can we drink the wine if it is
drugged? That will make us tipsy too”
Asha: “don’t worry, just leave everything to me”
she assured her distressed friend.
Queen: “And to think that Mercy snatched Peter
from me, yet she could look me in the eyes and
vomit such gibberish. Shebi she wants to get
married? Let us see how that wedding will hold
now” she thought shaking her feet.
